Modern and Experience-Focused Winery, Liana Estates, Set to Open October 2016
CARNEROS, Calif. (Fall 2016) – A fresh approach to the modern winery experience will come to life this summer in Carneros, Calif. with the opening of Liana Estates – a brand-new, experience-focused winery from the family behind the prestigious Peju Province Winery in Napa Valley. Liana Estates will soft open on July 16, 2016, with a grand opening later this fall.
Drawing inspiration from its breathtaking Napa Valley and San Pablo Bay surroundings, Liana Estates will connect visitors to what is natural, sustainable, and alive through a variety of immersive experiences – including culinary classes, interactive workshops and wellness activities including yoga paired with bubbly – all utilizing the five senses, along with an ever-changing selection of high-quality wines including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, unique varietals, and sparkling. These experiences will evolve with each season while also taking cues from Liana wines of the moment, providing guests with countless ways to embrace nature’s wonders and fine wine.
Liana Estates is a passion project of sisters Lisa and Ariana Peju, who grew up surrounded by their family’s successful and award-winning winery, Peju. A true blending of Lisa and Ariana’s creative vision, the name “Liana” is a portmanteau of the two sisters’ names.
“Our family’s winery has been a huge part of our lives since we were kids, and it inspired us to create our own concept that reflects our love for fine wine while also incorporating creative programming to provide a completely new wine experience,” said Lisa Peju, Owner of Liana Estates.
“We are excited to welcome guests to Liana Estates as they explore the beauty of fine wine and all of the natural elements that elevate the experience,” said Owner Ariana Peju.
Led by Bay Area-based Lauren Pique Designs, Liana Estates’ industrial and natural aesthetic captures the beauty of the outdoors in a modern, fresh indoor space with elements of land, air, and sea permeating the new tasting room, private tasting space, and loft of the three-story building.
In the spirit of creating something that begins in the field and ends in a glass, the first floor tasting room flanks the production area. Open views offer guests the opportunity to be a part of the process from start to finish. Design touches that reflect the various textures and elements of the land are found throughout, such as rusted metal bar carts; a leather banquette; large concrete tile; metal bistro tables; blown glass light fixtures; a rollup garage door; and reclaimed wood walls made with wood from the Peju family’s Pope Valley property. A mercantile store near the entrance features fruits, fresh produce, flowers, culinary provisions, private label olive oil, and chalkboard paint on the stairwell designed for local artists to add their own unique inspirations.
The nature-inspired design continues up to the second and third floors, which boast dramatic panoramic views of the San Pablo Bay. The private tasting room on the second floor – the Wine Club Lounge – has a porch and is designed with modern comfort in mind. A fireplace and modular furniture accent the tasting bar, with a wood treated wall behind it that carries up details from the first floor. The Wine Club Lounge will offer private concierge service, and culinary bites from the kitchen will also be available. The third floor loft features earthy details of concrete tile and metal, along with a succulent wall that mirrors the colors of the landscape. A built-in dumbwaiter brings culinary bites up from the kitchen right onto the custom live-edge table made from fallen trees on the Peju family’s property.
Upon opening, Liana Estates will roll-out a series of immersive experiences that further elevate the guest experience. These offerings will be centered around Liana wines, and many will have a strong culinary focus in tandem with the property’s executive chef.
- Garden to Table is a workshop concept in which guests can create nature-based masterpieces such as floral bouquets, produce centerpieces, and succulent rings.
- Bake and Bubbles is an oyster bake series in which guests learn how to shuck their own oysters while also learning more about oyster sustainability – and of course experiencing wine pairings.
- Bubbles and Yoga is a serene yoga class in the picturesque vineyard followed by pours of Liana bubbly.
- Full Moon Harvest Dinners are a nod to the rich bounty of Napa Valley and San Pablo Bay. These bi-annual, intimate dinners will take place outdoors to celebrate the full-moon harvests.
- Mozzarella Challenge is a hands-on culinary class that will teach guests how to make their own mozzarella with assistance from Liana’s executive chef. Chef will also teach guests how to incorporate seasonal herbs and flavors.
- Carneros Culinary Series will welcome local Napa and Sonoma chefs to Liana to serve a special dinner in the on-site olive grove that highlights their home restaurant along with a one-night-only dish for guests.
Liana Estates will also offer daily wine tastings in its tasting room for $35 per guest, as well as private events for groups.
Liana Estates will be open Monday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Sunday 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Liana Estates wine will also available for purchase in the tasting room and online, ranging from $22-37 per bottle.
